Sports Car

The other night I asked for input concerning a classic sports car. My new question: What is your opinion for the best choice in a sports car... one with character and reliability? I am not looking to buy a brand new car... wanting to spend under $15,000.

They had a decent following at the time, they were pretty unusual for the early 80s and John De Lorean was quite a character for the time (this was before half the U.S. senate was caught doing coke). I remember seeing one for the first time at a car show in about 80-81 and it drew quite a crowd, the first move didn't come out until several years later.

Re: Sports Car
Look for a 1993 Alfa Spider! There around, and are available with 5-Speed, Automatic, and powerstering! The top goes dow manually, so there's very little to break, the "Alfa Clubs," can get any parts you may need, and the last ones sold were Bosch Electrionic Fuel Injected. I race a 1974 Alfa GTA (A for aluminum body), and rather than rebuild a "74," engine I bought a used one from Italy. It came with Bosch FI, a Twin Plug Head, and four valves per cylinder. When I drive it on the street I get more attention than most cars, and if a BMW pulls up to me I don't even have to try to "BLOW his Doors Off!" I put in a "rotary A/C, and the car is a blast! For $15,000 you can buy an Alfa Spider, and go home with around $5,000. My shop is in Miami http://autovolante.tripod.com/ .
