Listening to archival tape for this story, it struck me that there was a time when it was common to hear presidential candidates talk about poverty. President Lyndon Johnson even launched a War on Poverty. In the current campaign, you don¿t hear any reference to the poor, and the word ¿poverty¿ is never uttered. You do hear about the need to help struggling working families and about hard times. So maybe it¿s just the words that have changed. But are we missing something when the candidates no longer refer to people living in poverty? What do you think?
