I plan to ride my bicycle. Of course I have been commuting by bicycle up to 30 miles per day for years so this will be no big change for me.

For those who do not have to cross the bay, this beautiful Summer weather and unfortunate labor dispute are the perfect reasons to dust off your old two wheeler!

I'll be taking Caltrain the whole way, instead of transferring to BART at Millbrae.

I'll be carpooling, if I can find someone with a seat free. But I'm shocked at the lack of alternate methods being proposed by BART management. Only 16 buses in total running from West Oakland into SF and back? That's roughly enough for 1,000 people, less than 1/3 of 1% of the usual ridership. That's both funny and sad. Why even bother?

Re: Getting By Without BART
I listened to KQED FM this morning from 7am until I left for work at 8:20 or so, and to my astonishment I didn't hear a single story about the BART strike being on or off except the brief mention in the national NPR newscast. Not even in your traffic reports! Thank goodness for SFGate, I guess.

Wouldn't one reasonably expect a local NPR affiliate to carry some news of one of the biggest transportation stories in the region?
