I had been married for 17 years to a man who cheated on me constantly. I'm sure if he had known about fundamental LDS he would have claimed every one of these affairs were "celestial marriages". Jos. Smith's doctrine was purely one man's way of cheating on his wife under the color of "religion". I pity the women who swallow this craziness. If this was such a holy doctrine why wasn't it part of he 10 commandments? Why didn't Jesus have multiple wives? Besides, how can any intelligent woman believe that celestial marriage is the only way to heaven? Please. If you buy this one, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'll like to sell you. Mary
If this trial were taking place anywhere in the world, Jeff's wouldn't be found guilty of rape as an accomplice; he would have been charged with crimes against humanity! Jeff's actions are nothing more than a sanction of organized rape of children. The verdict is just.
I also have to comment that Christopher Hitchens is right: religion poisons everything. Polygamy is not the issue here, it's the religious context that makes it so evil.
