Play It Again, Franz

[Posted by Eve Epstein]

One of the most unlikely guests we've ever had on Think Out Loud was a piano tuner. What does a piano tuner have to say, after all?

Turns out our guest Franz Mohr, piano tuner to the stars, was a delightful storyteller. We learned, for example, how hairspray rescued him from a sticky situation. So by popular demand, and as a bit of a break from our political coverage during the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, (and yes, as a way to give ourselves a Labor Day breather!), we're re-broadcasting "A Life In Tune" as a holiday special.

We won't be taking calls, but if Mohr inspires your own piano memories, or stories about an instrument you loved, share them here.

For those of you who missed this one when it was originally on, I would like to encourage you to take a listen... it's an enjoyable show, well worth the hour.

Re: Play It Again, Franz
Hello,

I am about to begin a course of study to learn how to tune and repair pianos. I have come to this decision later than most (I am 35) and wanted to know if Franz Mohr had any advice for me, in terms of creating good habits and avoiding bad ones, as I learn to tune?
