What are your thoughts on the election?
What do you think about the current presidential election? How are the candidates communicating their stand on issues like the economy, Iraq, and immigration? What is going to determine which candidate gets your vote?

I am thinking about a recent "take away" discussion. The moderator asked the guest what were the prospects for the future of the Republican Party. They were comparing the intellectual merits of the President and Palin. He said that Bush and Palin were bombarded with being a "light weights" intellectually. The fact that Bush won his election then he must be brighter!Winning at all costs has been the motto of the party faithful. That is why they are doomed.

I am from Europe and I watched very closely the presidential election and when president elected addressed the speach to the American people I was again surprise that every president is elected they talk about bipolarization which could be very pragmatic in governing but where is the opposition? where is that other party that can oppose the president decision in case he is wrong like Bush was wrong on Iraq war? If the bipolarization starts from the centre there would be any space for the opposition to carry out some other reforms? I do beleive that opposition makes the elected party to think twice before making any big and strategic position. It seems to me that all ideals are merging to only one objective to run and govern no matter how wrong a president can be. Do we want make another mistake when you give to the president such a big and excutive power?
