SDPB's goal with 'Active Duty' is to inform the citizens of South Dakota about the missions our friends and neighbors, sons and daughters, husbands and wives are undertaking. We hope you'll establish a personal connection with the servicemen and women serving in the military, and have a greater appreciation for the work that they do.
South Dakota National Guard troops overseas
Spec. Bruce A. Jones will be posting videos, pictures, and blog entries at http://www.sdpb.org/activeduty Jones will also be logging in to this page from time to time with news about the unit during its deployment. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post them here.
Keep up the good work Bruce. I'll be watching and waiting for the next installment. glad to know this is here. It's interesting to know and feel connected to these guys out serving our country. Go SD Army National Gurad. You are in my prayers.
It helps so much to feel a part of all of you during this deployment. What a great way to do this. Thank you for your effort in helping us through this difficult time and our thoughts and prayers are with all of you every moment of every day!
I am the old platoon Sgt. from the Desmet unit while we were in Iraq..I currently teach Math and I show my students many of these clips..they are really interested...we are gathering a big care package from from our School(Hamlin) to send you guys and was wondering if there was anything in particular you guys need! Keep up the good work our prayers are with you everyday! SFC Poppen
Hey Pops: Like Ferbs said, toiletries seem to be at a premium here. The PX is non-existent. Have you tried to down any re-fills lately???? I will give Todd and Pete a heads up you are keeping tabs on us here.
Thanx again,
BaJ
The idea behind these videos to keep family and friends up to date with the happenings of Soldiers overseas is a nice idea but these videos are very hurtful for the mission at hand. Why would we want to post this type of information on a public access site where everyone, including the enemy can see it without logging on or anything. Obviously this individual has ZERO TRAINING in the video department and from my view point has no to little understanding of keeping vital information private. As a South Dakota native looking on as my friends and family fight for our freedom over seas it troubles me to see so much detail about them and have lost repect for our SDPB for allowing such posts. God bless the troops and I hope they survive our stupidity back home.
westriver88: Thank you for your concern. FYI, these postings are reviewed by not only my command, but by operational security experts within our higher HQ for content and OPSEC, prior to posting. I can assure you, they would not allow us to post anything that would endanger us, or the mission at hand.
I agree! My brother is in the 2nd platoon and there is no mention of them. We would love an update! Thanks again for the videos. It really helps relate to what the troops are doing over there...keep them coming!
warhorse and ladebuhr: I wish we could see more of them too. However, I have seen them exactly once more than you have, since we have been here. We did manage to get some footage, and as soon as its approved we will get it posted.
Thank you so much for the last video! You have made my Christmas!!! Seeing them safe and smiling was a blessing! Thank you so much again and I really appreciate everything that the 211th is doing over there. god bless all of you!!!
This web sight is so helpful to the family members back in the states and we would like to see it continue. It gives us a little peace when there is such fear in our hearts for our loved ones.PLEASE, please let this sight remain on line....
