How much have immigrants changed your community?
Do you have a story about immigrants in your neighborhood?

Neighborhoods which were once full of abandoned and boarded up houses, easy to convert to drug houses, are now painted in bright shades and handwork in iron or new roofs and siding adorn them. Yes cars now line the streets and yards, but better that then a decaying neighborhood.

Businesses that once had trouble surviving because they could not find employees and were actually busing people in from other towns, are not busy and succesful. Mexican employees support the American manager in providing services to the public.

My grocery store offers this weeks sale items and other products posted in both English and Spanish. The butcher area offers special cuts to appeal to a Latino population and the bakery makes and packages tortillas on site. Smart move. The store recently had to expand and built a new building to meet the demand of its new customers.

Immigrants have hurt me in the pocket book. years ago here in California you could get a commercial drivers licence with out even having a ssn card. Those illegals bought their own big rigs and went to subcontract to the big companies. the big carriers take a 15 to 20 percent from us the illegal will give them upto 40 percent so the companies will give them loads and look the other way about not having a licence so who do you think get the work. you guessed it I sit at home and go broke.

if they come illegally, we can take advantage of them (i.e., business) because they have no rights. that\'s the game. you just have to say you\'re against it to appear virtuous.
