Barack Obama argues that giving illegal immigrants a path to citizenship is not an amnesty if they pay a fine, Hillary Clinton backs full immigration reform, including tighter borders, John McCain co-sponsored a bill which offered an amnesty to illegal immigrants as well as tougher border controls while Mike Huckabee opposes any amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?

Are you in favor of giving illegal immigrants the chance to become legal residents eventually or are you opposed to anything that could be seen as an amnesty?

Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
Ron Paul. Supports strong adherence to the constitution. Supports enforcement of our laws.

Re: Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
I agree. Ron Paul has the most viable and 'fair' plan that has been offered thus far.

Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
I think that any candidate that will make it to the White House should pay attention in this important issue, not full amnesty but a fee to control and collect income taxes from the illegals and that in my mind will start cahnging the way of illegal immigrats would approach to come to the US.

No amnesty, invading a soveirng nation should be looked as a criminal act.

Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
None of them. They are all willing to sell out this country to get elected. There is no difference in any of them. We are voting for the best of the worst.

Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
They are all in the pockets of big businesses. Big business likes cheap labor that won't blow the whistle on OSHA violations and UDSA violations. Remember the latest meat recall? A slughter house that is staffed with illegals in California was processing diseased and already dead cattle. Nobody working there blew the whistle; hey, the whistle wasn't in Spanish, so nobody in the plant knew how to blow it.
All of these buffoons that are running for President have global interests in their heart. This election is a joke! It all comes down to who is going to give away more of our tax money to those that don't deserve it.
We need a Nationalist Party, one that is for America first!

Exactly, but remember that with a pro-amnesty President and a democratic senate the last immigration bill was defeated because the "lazy" Americans made it clear that they weren't having it. Now the states are beginning to wake up and do studies that show illegal labor brings down wages for legal workers and within the last three weeks at least 3 states are initiating policies to punish businesses that are using illegal labor.

Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
None of the candidates has the best plan. Any plan will have to make comprimises and that is the bottom line. There are too many hurdles. Overhaul of any sort will face the same fate that Hillary Clinton's healtcare plan did in early 90s.

Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
I am not in favor of giving illegal immigrants the chance to become legal residents. Here's logic: You want to screen out those who have a criminal background. Illegal immigrants have a criminal background by definition because they have violated our immigration laws. Thereby illegals aliens are ineligible for legal residency.

Am I opposed to anything that could be seen as an amnesty? Yes. If some of you recall in the mid-70's, during the Carter presidential race, there was another amnesty issue. This was the issue of amnesty for the Vietnam-era draft dodgers who went underground and to Canada and other places. Carter was opposed to this "amnesty" as were all the other candidates. And these were our own American boys and girls!!!

How far we have come! (How backwards we have slid)

Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
None of them have a plan nor do they want to reform immigration. In fact no politician wants to reform immigration. They all want to give illegals the right to vote. Hillary won Texas on the Hispanic vote. Does anyone think the beltway brain dead want to do anything other than fight each other for power? Do you think any of them care what the American people think? As long as they can line their pockets, spend our tax dollars on bridges to nowhere and hang onto their power, they are not going to change a thing. Wake up! We keep voting them back into office so they can investigate ball players while our country becomes Mexico North and Homeland Security can't do their job. Illegal means against the law, but then our laws are only enforced against US citizens. Put border patrol agents in jail and let a drug dealer walk. Does that sound like anyone cares about justice? I oppose amnesty for criminals who invade our country, as does a majority of the nation, but that doesn't mean a thing to politicians because they know they will keep being re-elected amd retire with a golden umbrella while our citizens are struggling to keep their homes, their jobs, and afford healthcare. They cut Medicare for seniors so they can give medicaid to illegals. Until the American people stage a march on Washington and clean it out, nothing will change. Obama can use the word change a zillion times a day, but he isn't going to change a thing. McCain wants to invite more illegals in because not enough of us speak spanish yet. You want to know who is to blame? WE are, because we have allowed this to happen and we are not doing a thing to stop it. Reform of any kind is a joke when it comes to politicians!

Re: Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
HOLLY 7.YOU BRING UP THE WORD LAW AS A SWORD.BUT I'M AFRAID LAWS SIGNED BY POLITICIANS ARE THE RESULT OF LOBBYS AND DEALS,TEND TO BE FAR FROM PERFECT.ONE CAN SEE YOU FEEL FAR SUPERIOR TO THOSE ILLEGALS THAT YOU CAN HIRE AND THEN DISPOSE OF.AND YOU EVEN PUT BLAMES HERE AND THERE.NO WONDER THERE'S A WIDE SPREAD ANGLO FOBIA AROUND THE WORLD.REMEMBER THERE WAS A TIME WHEN ANGLO WHERE THE INMIGRANTS AND THE MEXICAN WERE THE LOCALS.A TIME WHEN EUROPEANS WHERE ABSENT AND THE RULE WAS THE LAW CREATED BY GOD.THEN THE EUROPEANS INVADED AND BROUGHT THEIR LAWS MADE OF POWDER AND STEEL,A TIME WHEN SLAVES WHERE BROUGHT FROM AFRICA TO BE BOUGHT AND SOLD AND EXPLOITED HERE,IN YOUR PROUD AMERICA.WHEN THE NATIVE AMERICANS WHERE DISPLACED,THEIR HOMES BURNT,WERE MADE VICTIMS OF ATROCYTIS AND GENOCIDE.WHEN WILD LIFE WAS BROUGHT DOWN TO THE VERGE OF EXTINCTION.WHEN RIVERS WHERE POISONED TO FIND GOLD.AND BACK TO OUR TIME,ILLEGALS DON'T HAVE ANY MEDICAID,ONLY A HARD DAY OF WORK AFTER ANOTHER AND MOST OF THEIR PAY CHECK IS AN ADDITION OF TAXES DEDUCTED.THEY DON'T HAVE JOBS IN MEXICO,BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURING OF GOODS WAS ALL SENT TO CHINA.SO WE ALL CAN GO SPENDING AT WALL-MART AND STILL SAVE.PEOPLE ARE HAVING TROUBLE KEEPING THEIR HOMES,THE TOP GUYS MESSED WHITH THE ECONOMY,BECAUSE THE GOVERMENT IS SENDING TRILLONS OF DOLLARS TO FUND THE WARS,TO BUILT A FIVE STAR GREEN ZONE.AND ALSO,THOSE BORDER PATROL WERE TAKEN OUT BEACAUSE THEY ACTED LIKE CROOKS,HONEST AGENTS ARE STILL DOING THEIR JOB.BUT THERE'S STILL HOPE AS LONG AS COMPATIONATE AND HONEST AMERICANS ARE GIVEN A CHANCE.GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Re: Re: Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
Every nation is governed by laws. Without law there is chaos, and if the current trend continues America will be in chaos. Read up on Mexican immigration laws and stop living in the past. Illegal is illegal. No matter how histrionic you get, you can't change that fact. There are immigrants waiting patiently to enter this country legally to become AMERICANS! So why should those who have entered illegally, have no respect for our laws and appear to be intent on turning America into Mexico North, get amnesty?

Re: Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
"REMEMBER THERE WAS A TIME WHEN ANGLO WHERE THE INMIGRANTS AND THE MEXICAN WERE THE LOCALS".

I think this statement is inaccurate because Mexicans are only local to the territory of Mexico, not the territory of the United States. I'm not sure to whom you refer by the term "Anglo"? But Americans have been living in the territory of the United States continuously for multi-generations. Americans are local to the USA. Simply put, this is our country. We own it. The home of our ancestors, the source of our livelihood, the source of our identity, the future of our posterity.

Re: Re: Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
IT'S SAD THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE IN THIS STATE OF MIND,WHERE ZERO TOLERANCE IS SEEN AS COMON SENSE.THE LONG LINE OF INMIGRANTS,TRYING TO LIVE LEGALLY IN THE STATES,MEANS THAT THERE IS REALLY NO LAW IN PLACE TO DO IT.UNLESS ONE IS A SCIENTIST,SOMEONE WHITH HIGHER EDUCATION.IN WHICH CASE THAT PERSON WILL BE LET IN AND WILL GET A JOB THAT AN AMERICAN WANTS TO DO.FOR JOBS AMERICANS DON,T WANT TO DO,THE ONLY WAY IS TO HIRE AN ILLEGAL.OBAMA IS THE BEST CHANCE TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS.IF THIS INMIGRATION LAW IS NOT CHANGED,A WALL THE SIZE OF THE WHOLE COUNTRY WILL BE NEEDED.AMERICANS WILL BE IN AMERICA THE WAY ISRAEL IS IN THE MIDDLE EAST.THAT IS,MONEY AND POWER BUT TOO MANY ENEMIES.BETTER LET GO ON HATE EMOTIONS AND REALIZE THAT THERE IS A NEED FOR THOSE WORKERS.

Re: Re: Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
WHAT IS KNOWN AS MEXICANS ARE REALLY MAYANS AND AZTECS.THEY WERE IN MUCH OF THE TERRITORY NOW BELONGING TO THE UNITED STATES.THEY DID SO FOR HUNDREDS OR EVEN THOUSANDS OF YEARS BEFORE EUROPEANS SET FOOT IN AMERICA.THEY USED TO BE LOCALS IN CALIFORNIA,NEW MEXICO,TEXAS,ALONG WHITH OTHER NATIVE AMERICAN POPULATION WHO OWED THIS LAND.I'M NOT SAYING YOU DON'T OWN YOUR COUNTRY,OR YOUR LIVELIHOOD.BUT IS NOT AS SIMLE AS YOU LIKE TO PUT IT.YOUR ANCESTORS ARE ENGLISH SPEAKERS,THAT IS WHAT GIVES YOU AN IDENTITY.WHITE PEOPLE CAME HERE IN THE LAST FEW GENERATIONS.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
Actually, there is strong evidence that pre-historic man migrated to the Americans from southern France following the ice cap and the game animals. The Mayans and the Aztec were in the Yucatan and the area around Mexico City, not the northern area od the American continent. They were never locals to California. Who is telling you such nonsense?
The US accepts far more immigrants than any other nation. i wouldn't call that intolerance.

peace.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Which presidential candidate has the best plan for immigration reform?
ITS TRUE THAT AMERICA IS A GENEROUS SOCIETY.INMIGRANTS WERE ALWAYS WELCOME.SPECIALLY IF THEY CAME FROM ENGLAND,IRELAND,EVEN ITALY,OR OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRYS.ASIANS ARE ALSO RESPECTED AND ALLOWED TO LEGAL INMIGRATION AS ARE ARABS,PERSAN,AND JEWS.ON THE OTHER HAND PEOPLE FROM CENTRAL AMERICA OR SOUTH AMERICA HAD TO MAKE THEIR WAY AS ILLEGALS.THE DOOR IS NOW SHUT AND LOCKED AS MUCH AS POSIBLE TO THEM.THE TRUTH IS THIS ARE JUST WORKERS,MANY TIMES DISCRIMINATED AND BLAMED OF TOO MANY THINGS,MOSTLY NATIVES FROM THE AMERICAN CONTINENT,WHITH THEIR INDIGENOUS FACES.THEY DID NOT GET TO THIS CONTINENT FROM ANYWHERE ELSE.DO NOT POSE REAL THREAT AND ARE NOT ENEMIES.I HAVE BLUE EYES MYSELF AND MY ANCESTERS ARE EUROPEANS.ANYWAY I FEEL ITS A SHAME THAT THE VOICES AMPLIFIED BY CORPORATE MEDIA COME FROM PEOPLE AFECTED BY STRONG NEGATIVE EMOTIONS ON THIS ISSUE.THAT IS A SIGN OF DECAY IN THIS SOCIETY.A FAILURE OF TOLERANCE.NO OFFENCE,PROBABLY ITS ONLY A MINORITY OF AMERICANS BUT WHITH A LOUD VOICE,JUST POSITIVE CRITICS.

Pre-historic white people came to America before the Aztecs and Mayans.
