Read the whole storyRefugees from Iraq

The Bush Administration has been under pressure to let more Iraqi refugees move to the United States. In the summer of 2007 the administration was getting ready to admit up to 7,000 Iraqi refugees by the end of September. But critics say the number of refugees being allowed to come to the U.S. is still too small.

Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?

Does the American government have a special moral obligation to assist individuals who helped the United States on the ground in Iraq? How many Iraqis should be admitted?

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
No way!!!! We have dumped endless resources into that pathetic country. They can't seem to act civilized and get their act together, then why should we bring the trouble here. We already have enough degenerate illegals, why make it worse?

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
Why should we??

Isn't allowing refugees an admission that we've screwed things up? Well, we have, but I see no reason to aloow in a million more people because of that. Let's just pull out and let them fix the mess.

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
The question I have is how many countries should we allow refugees from? Afganistan...Iraq....Somalia...I know of conflicts going on in at least six or seven other countries. I think its a bad idea to say that we went to a country to find weapons of mass destruction and to stop the threat to our country and then stay for twenty years excepting millions of there refugees into our downtown neighborhoods. All the while this is going on a third of the South American population is trying to come here as well. We are shooting ourselves in the foot over and over again.

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
We have an obligation to help the Iraqis help themselves and their people fight for freedom and against injustice in their country. It is not our responsibility to fight for those who are unwilling to fight for themselves and their countrymen. Bringing Iraqis into America solves nothing. All through history warriors stayed and fought but cowards ran and hid. We do not need a country inundated with the cowardly. Only when the Iraqis stay and fight regardless of personal sacrifice will change be made.

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
HELL NO! How soon people forget or refuse to admit that Iraq was ruled by a brutal, murdering regeime that murdered hundreds of thousands of their own people. The kaos happening now is because Iraq is in the middle of a civil war of a religious nature. Yes, muslims are murdering muslims over religion, territory and power. How is that the fault of the USA? Instead of bringing more muslims to our country that hate us and all western culture, they should partition Iraq into three separate states. Isn't this what the EU and the USA just did with KOSOVO? If Serbia can lose national territory to muslim ethic Albanians that illegally immigrated to their country then why not take that same thinking and partition Iraq in order to separate the warring parties into separate camps? When are people going to wake up and smell the coffee? We either fight overseas those who seek to destroy our way of life or fight them on our streets. Bring enough 5th colume to our country and see what happens. The USA has made many mistakes in Iraq BUT without the USA Iraq was and will be even more of a bloodbath.

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
These people do not want us in their country and I feel that their admission should come to a halt. Why come into our country if you don't want us in yours.

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
Absolutely no no, because we were there to set them free for freedom, but the mess is blame on the people themselves. The peole are the blamed, not us....all beause of their stupidest religions.

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
no way! talk about home grown extremism, war is hell and those are the hard facts of life. We can't be expected to take in everyone from all our wars. Thats the problem with the US right now, so many foreigners here with there lobbying groups pushing there own agendas tearing apart the very fabric of our nation and our sovereignty!

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
Of course. Without a doubt. The United States government created the mess in Iraq and we are liable for what happens to Iraqi citizens so they deserve to be in the United States.

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
No more refugees from Iraq should come into the country. We have to many people entering this country now. Lets get the ones coming from Iraq to stay at home and build their homeland.

Re: Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?
Everyone who blames America for the "killing fields" in Iraq should remember what the lives of average Iraqi citizens were like under Sadam. Remember the gassing of the Curds? Did you see the pictures of the prisons and the mass graves unearthed? Do you remember Sadam's invasion into Kuwait? And what was done to the Kuwaiti people? I do not understand people who want to blame America for the woes of the world. When was the last time an American strapped a bomb on a child or a teenager or a woman and sent them to their death? When was the last time an American beheaded someone? Remember Danny Pearl? Get real, people!
