The Bush Administration has been under pressure to let more Iraqi refugees move to the United States. Now the administration is getting ready to admit up to 7,000 Iraqi refugees by the end of September. But critics say the number of refugees being allowed to come to the U.S. is still too small.
Should the U.S. admit more refugees from Iraq?

I don't agree with letting in anyone of Muslim religion right now. We are supposedly at war with Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Iran will probably soon follow. Why are we allowing any Muslims into our country right now? In my state of Michigan, there are so many it's impossible to go anywhere without hearing the throaty sound of their language. I'm scared to go into my local mall. Why allow in anyone of Iraqi decent? It is not America's place to always be the mother ship to take care of everyone. If they need help, let them find a neighboring friendly country to help them. We need to stop letting them in here. The 9/11 hijackers were in our country on expired Visas, weren't they? So they were allowed to come here at one point and no one told them to leave when their Visa expired. No one pays attention. Now Muslims are coming in droves under the guise of being a refugee. What a perfect way to get into our country and then...what? Take it over from the inside. Everyone should be afraid.
30, 40 years ago, there were no borders, only a 2 or feet fence wire fence, but with the americans relying on sheap labor to pick their crops, left all the people, especially from mexico coming acroos and make good money, because mexican gov. never care for their people, this corrupted gov. is the only one responsible for what is happening right now,just tell me how many former presidents got rich., i am 64 years old i can tell you the with it is. now mexico is facing the same thing,with all this people coming from down south and they still exploiting, robing, killing and else, and is people in gov. office doing this. tks.
There is no way we should be allowing more immigrants into this country...especially Middle Easterners (due to the controversy between our countries at this time). Yes, America is great now, because of the melting pot that it is, but at some point you need to take care of the peoples jobs and the welfare between these borders rather than tryin "not to offend" others-or trying to be"fair"!

Only after hostilities end and a peace treaty is signed should we be accepting any Iraqi nationals. Because, while we are still in a state of war with Iraq, these folks will have to be watched, and that will take up resources needed elsewhere. let's not even go there. Besides, Vietnamese refugees were resettled in the US only after that war had ended.

No. The people of Iraq have been living in Iraq all along and that is their home. There is no reason for them to come to the USA. They need to stay in their country, build their own military and police forces and become civilized once again.
The US cannot accept any more people. We now have water problems that will turn to shortages in the next few years. Georgia's water supply is low, as is the water supply in the rest of the south. California purchased water rights from Colorado and the mighty Colorado River is getting less mighty every year as a result of California's water draw down on that river.
We have our own challenges and do not want or need to become overpopulated like Europe, China, India and Pakastan.
If people want to make a better life for themselves, let them make it in their own country.

We should not admit anyone from Iraq or any other country for that matter because the first and foremost thing that we as a country need to do is get this idiot out of the white house that has done nothing but ruin our economy and reputation through out the Globe! All I see on here is a bunch of people crying about the poor Iraqis and not even considering the fact that if we did let a bunch of them into our country where are they going work? Are you going to give up your job for them? Americans are having a hard enough time making ends meet and finding gainful employment. If you want to help the Iraqis do it by Impeaching Bush and by getting his Administration out of power. Everything he has done as president has only been done for his own personal gains it wasnt Sadaam that he wanted it was the oil and the only reason he didn't get that was because the rest of the World said he couldnt have it! Nixon and Clinton did allot less to get kicked out of office and for some reason we still let this idiot stay and cause us more economic downfalls. He totally rigged the last election and he has done the same to this one also and thats why we are going to end up with another Republican in office because he needs someone thats going to cover up all his scandals so he can get away with all of it. If a Democrat got elected Bush knows that he'll be toaste thats why the headlines only seem to have two names in them, Obama and Clinton and all they are doing is tearing at each others throats and making each other look bad and all the scandalous things we keep hearing they do to each other are actually being done by the Republicans. Daddy Bush has been steadily working in the background along with his CIA counter parts throughout Bush's Presidency. The legal wire tapping he put into place wasnt for spying on Terrorist it was so he could spy on other white house officials and contemplate there next moves. And for those who keep saying we created the mess in Iraq and should pay for clean up and support them for ever NO WE DIDNT CREATE THE MESS GEORGE W BUSH CREATED IT and he's not done yet. First off moral oblilgation is a catch 22 because America is a sepration of church and state so your Morals count for nothing.I learned this because I am trying to remove a school principal who had a sex change! They can do. Just like any kind of Visa plan approved by our government. But the first question I would ask is what is the specific need of THIS nation as a help to our economy.
Folks belly-ache that if we cut off illegal immigration then no one would pick our crops or clean our buildings. What a small minded view of the world outside our borders! Today as a 50 plus year old, I am a successful businessman. But in my teens and twenties, I did my fair share of janitorial work and burger flipping - why, because I needed money to live.
Let's cut off the flow of illegals and see what this country needs in labor requirements. If an Iraqi fears for his/her life and wants a new start in America - great! We are accepting 7000 laborers, 200 doctors, 300 computer specialists, 100 diesel mechanics - you are Iraqi and you want a Visa to work in the US. Absolutely. We have got to stop being like the Democratic Party in this country dividing people into classes - blacks vs whites, men vs women, rich vs poor, Muslim vs Christian - these are all artificial categories of Americans. I can very easily, though, distinguish illegal ve legal and criminal vs civil. I will take a legal, Visa-in-hand Iraqi immigrant anyday over an illegal Russian pay-me-under-the-table immigrant.

The qualifications are Associate degree, Bachelor Degree, PHd Degree, 1 to 15 years experience and do you have references. What kind of references do they have accept they know how to survive doing a war. Have you notice the amount of fraud and theft coming from other countries? Have you notice how many jobs went overseas leaving people to train illegal immigrants? Have you as an American citizen paid your neighbor next to you: light bill, mortgage or rent, provided how cost gas, health insurance (which is unafordable), flood insurance (which some companies have dropped), dental, grocery bill (apparently high due to what?), child care, (have to work 2 jobs to make it to one because my job went overseas), car insurance, light bill, cable bill, internet service, phone bill, cell phone bill, children activities, and so forth. If you have by chance come pay mind since you feel the need to welcome outsiders with no experience.
You know what they can hit the mega million jackpot and open a restaurant or store and hire us for minimum wage or less. You know we need a job.
Right now I would say that it is okay however proof of work and or education is necessary. The regular routine of all immigrants that come to america should be followed. No more free rides we are in a crunch right now and cannot afford to just bring whoever we want on over by the thousands.
