It's been about six years since President Bush first authorized the Pentagon to hold non-U.S. terrorism suspects in indefinite custody and without charge. Two months later, the first detainees were transfered from Afghanistan to a prison-like camp located at an American naval base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Since then, Guantánamo's been a lightning rod for criticism.
Should the Guantánamo Bay detention facility remain in operation?
Or should it be closed as soon as possible? Has it increased the security of the United States and does it continue to do so? Or has it been a limited tool in fight against terrorism that caused considerable damage to the reputation of the United States as inmates are being held indefinitely without charge and with limited access to lawyers?
I think that it should be closed becuase there is way to much stuff that is unneciasary going on there i mean im doing a report on why Guantanamo bay should be closed becuase all of this mean and cruel stuff goes on there Barrack Obama and John Macain even say that prison should be closed so i mean seriosly they may be Inmates but the fact is that the guards somtimes can be really cruel to them for the littlest things. I mean seriously but i mean somtimes the inmates can have those punishments if they hurt a guard or do somthing that is really bad but, there has been alot of suicide attempts and they really dont do much about that so yeah
My question to you would be what happened at 9/11? When we look at the world problems it appears that the need for effective information to fight terror continues. The question should not be about Gitmo but about what is being done to fight terror and people who would like nothing better then to kill you or me. It is my understanding that the majority of the people held there if released would begin again a venture to kill us. If that is true then what is the real issue?
I do not believe that Gitmo is the issue but is being used to cloud the real issue of terror and how to deal with it.
