Read the whole storyChina's military

The Pentagon will spend more than $ 480 billion in 2008 dwarfing the military spending plan China announced in March. Still, a new Pentagon report sounds a warning about China's capabilities - and its lack of openness about them. Beijing has now revealed that it plans to spend 18 % more on its military this year. That would bring its defense budget to more than 58-billion dollars. The Pentagon report says China actually spends twice that much.

Are you concerned about China as a military power?

Should the United States try to contain China's military build-up?

Re: Are you concerned about China as a military power?
No, we can't afford it and probably any dollar we spend on military counter measures will go directly to China anyway. The American Capitalist is largely responsible for the rise in China so maybe they should go there to live, work, and rule the world.

Not really, a country as big as china and dependant on foreign trade that made
their economy what it is today, I think the furthest thought of military confrontation
with any power may not be in their interest.
