Re: Ask the 2008 Attorney General candidates a question
For Attorney General Sorrell:

I have waited well over a year for my traffic case appeal to be heard. As the Judicial Bureau process took 10 months, two years have elapse since the alleged violation. It is clear that the Vermont judicial system is seriously backlogged. With budget cuts and court closings the situation is only going to get worse.

Two questions:

With budgets being reduced, and in light of the axiom that justice delayed is justice denied, what, specifically, is the Attorney General’s office doing to reduce District Court backlogs?

Is it the policy of your office to make no effort whatsoever to settle appeals of traffic violations?
