I want to commend Sen. Shumlin on his strong stance on gay rights with the [Democratic National Committee] and the passing of the marriage equality law this last session. It is strong forward thinking leaders like him who have always made Vermont the wonderful place it is. As a native Vermonter who still lives and works here, I consider that Vermont’s civil rights heritage has been proudly upheld by Sen. Shumlin. I would like to thank him and the other courageous leaders in the Legislature: you did the right thing.

Sen. Shumlin, in regards to your stance with the DNC, do you think that we as states can start to move the national party in the correct direction?
