Countries like China and India will take over as the power of the United States dwindles in the next century... That's how the story goes, but Minxin Pei, Director of the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies, says it's time we think again.
What do you think? Will China and India become more powerful than Europe or the United States? Will the countries aggressively industrializing today be the superpowers of tomorrow? Share your thoughts and we might just use them on the air when Minxin Pei joins us, Wednesday, September 9th at 3:00pm.
Well, duh. They'll get bitten by radioactive spiders or become mutants or be given superpower status by overbeings from another dimension.
The US Government spends billions of our tax dollars, nay, trillions upon research for end-of-the-world weapons, bioweapons, earthquake weapons, weather weapons, space weapons, financial weapons, psychological weapons, psychic weapons, chemical weapons, radiological weapons, 21st century assassins, directed energy weapons, you name it... if it might could kill people and we can pay someone's brother-in-law big bucks to study it, well, it probably got a DARPA grant.
The US military and groups like PNAC have published many papers which say outright that no other nation will be allowed to achieve superpower status. Apparently world destruction is preferable, according to official documents.
Democracy Now! has an interview today with Arundati Roy. Ms. Roy says she is in danger of going to prison for condemning her government's (India's) curtailment of civil liberties and treatment of their poorest people, who are now increasingly labeled "terrorists" if they speak up for themselves.
Speaking up for civil rights gets you labeled a terrorist in the USA, too, as we have seen time after time in the news.
That would be a good story for your crew, Jean! How about telling us the story of how Quaker Grannies achieved the status of terrorists? I mean, we all know that they're against war and stuff... but wasn't it going a little far? Someone from the Grannies would be a good guest, and you could have someone with the opposing viewpoint-- that we need to persecute these peacenik scum with our taxpayer dollars, or we won't be safe!
And how come the eastern district of Wisconsin has one of the highest rates of unconstitutional sneak-and-peek searches-- where the government busts into your house while you're not home to snoop and plant bugs? Do we really have that many terror suspects?
China to unveil new missile types on National Day: official
(Xinhua)
BEIJING: A senior Chinese military commander said Sunday that Thursday's National Day parade in Beijing will feature previously undisclosed technologies in the 108 missiles on display.
...
Yu said all the missiles to be displayed were new models or upgraded models never before made public.
Most of WPR's hosts, not Jean, have gotten their undies in a bundle beating the drum for war with Iran and North Korea... countries who have no effective deterrent against the US Military if President Obama attacks, or attacks by proxy as in the case of Israel.
Countries on the edge of Superpower status showing off 108 different new or upgraded missiles?
Not a mention. Why is that? A number of those new Chinese missiles are designed to reach the USA, and they're NEW, or at the very least, upgraded. Chinese nuclear warheads? They have plenty of them and are stockpiling. Click on this link:
Hosts and guests have been selectively presenting information, distortions and telling outright lies about Iran and North Korea to whip up fear and hatred, and have been caught in these by callers. I wonder how it feels for those hosts and guests to be on the same disinfo/propaganda team as Rush Limbaugh? Why would you want to be on the team that's pushing for war?
Hosts and guests strain at gnats and swallow camels-- and at whose behest? Whose orders do they follow, knowingly or as dupes?
Jean's not doing it. Why do the other hosts have to push fear, hatred and war by using lies and distortions originated and coordinated from outside Wisconsin Public Radio?

Some beautiful fireworks photos from The People's Republic of China's 60th Anniversary celebrations. You should see the slideshow by clicking on the link here:
Browse around the Brit Newspaper while you're there.
The 60th Anniversary of the PRC is an event studiously ignored by WPR. How big is the influence of China in our daily lives? Pretty damn big, yew betcha! We shouldn't think about it, according to NPR and WPR, because it leads to thinking about how Public Radio sponsors have been viciously moving Wisconsin and American jobs to China, including with bailout funds from the taxpayer.
Greenland challenge to Chinese over rare earth metals
An obscure, desolate plateau on the southwestern shores of Greenland could transform the future of consumer technology and shift the balance of power in the global supply of rare earth metals.
The treasure trove beneath the rocks and ice of the Ilimaussaq Intrusion represents the world’s largest known reserve of rare earth metals, the “technology” group of lanthanide elements used in products from mobile phones and low-energy light bulbs to hybrid cars and missile guidance systems.
The find has the potential, its developers claim, to severely dent China’s global monopoly over rare earth production, a 95 per cent dominance of total worldwide output that Beijing has strategically nurtured for 15 years and recently has started to treat as a potent trade weapon.
Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, together with a Russian business delegation, has sealed over five billion dollars in deals with China on energy, infrastructure and space exploration. The lucrative agreements are the outcome of talks with China's leaders in Beijing, Russia Today reports.
In terms of security cooperation, the two countries agreed to notify one another on any launches of ballistic missiles. Both Russia and China are permanent members of the UN Security Council and are big players when it comes to negotiations with Iran and North Korea, so talks on those issues took place on the sidelines of the major deals.
